Mutual of Omaha is looking for an energetic and engaged Project Manager to support our IS HR operations. The role is critical to ensuring consistent planning, prioritization & delivery of products and service for the department in support of ongoing effectiveness and best practice.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the assembly and facilitation of quarterly review and refinement of Scorecards and State of the Corporate Operations Division Application Portfolio

  • Demonstrated technical, analytical & team building skills

  • Ability to communicate the appropriate level of information using business and/or system terminology to Senior Officers, Middle Management and Analytical positions

  • Manage the overall planning, execution, and delivery of all run, grow, and transform work being performed by 1 cross-functional stable team of up to 15 total members. Manage medium to large projects consisting of a projected one year internal labor cost of up to $2.3M (15 FTE’s for one year). (This includes definition of project charters, ROI/ROE, budgets, and metrics.) Facilitate the day-to-day coordination of projects in accordance with cost, quality and timeliness standards and sponsor expectations. Track project status and manage project risk and issues. Lead the project team.

  • Manage the service and support and enhancement activities for the area. Facilitation of the day-to-day activities and ensure the area is adhering to development processes and procedures.

  • Facilitate the Kanban methodology. Lead process improvement activities. Provide leadership on the team.

  • This position requires sitting over 66% of the time.

  • This position requires Visual Acuity at 20 inches (or less) over 66% of the time.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8-10+ years project management experience, including experience with a project work plan tool, process improvement methodologies (Kata, Kaizen), project methodologies, including Agile, and Work Management methodologies, including Kanban.

  • Interpersonal - effective verbal and written communication skills, resolves conflicts and effectively negotiates issue resolution, establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships, and displays strong facilitation skills.

  • Partnership with Enterprise Architecture, PMO leaders to ensure all activities are in alignment with the short and long-term objectives of Mutual of Omaha Technology Architecture Strategy and Direction.

  • Strong oral and written communication - Ability to communicate and explain technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams.

  • Ability to see the “big picture” and lead planning and execution.

  • Experience in organization, prioritization and delegation to ensure success of the goals for a project.

  • Demonstrated Process Mapping & Process Modeling experience.

  • Managing various aspects of an IT environment experience.

  • Experience bridging User Ideas to Business Requirements to IS design & Implementation.

  • Demonstrated expertise working with division leaders to facilitate Process Improvement.

  • Strong negotiation, leadership and strategic planning skills.

  • Insurance and/or Finance industry experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of and experience with ERP system and Work Management Tools (PeopleSoft, JIRA, Clarity, etc).

  • Demonstrated technical, analytical & team building skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related system and/or business related field of study (or equivalent work experience).

  • SSM (SAFe Scrum Master)

  • SA (SAFe Agilist)

  • C.A.P.M (Certified Associate in Project Management).

  • P.M.P. (Project Management Professional)

  • C.S.P (Certified Scrum Practitioner)

  • PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner)

  • Continuing professional education related to position (20 hours per year).

  • Industry knowledge and application (2-5 business partners, use of 4-7 systems)
